TARWIDA

This artwork is an audio-reactive visual piece created using a node-based visual programming language software and sound DAW. It responds in real-time to the remix of Tarwida, a folk song with a rich historical significance. Tarwida originated during the Great Palestinian Revolt in 1936, serving as a covert means of communication by encoding messages within its lyrics. Women devised this method by reversing letters or altering the last letter of each word, allowing them to convey secrets of love and war to passing revolutionaries. The use of Tarwida persisted beyond significant historical events, serving as a poignant reminder of Palestinian resilience and the depth of their struggle.
