SHAME & BEAUTY

Shame & Beauty is an immersive audiovisual work by musician RojinSharafi and visual artists Ariathney Coyne and Lynn Mayya. Set within the LED light installation 'Media Lu(n)z' at Lunzer Saal for WellenKlänge festival, it invites the audience into a fully enveloping sensory space that explores the tension between desire and shame through sound and image.

Our visual approach contrasts softness and intensity: roses and fluid motion represent moments of beauty and calm, while spikes, thorns, and sharper forms reflect the discomfort and tension of shame. The colours shift between soothing hues and bold contrasts, exploring how these emotions coexist and challenge one another. We aim to merge the tension of shame with the comfort of beauty, shaping a process of acceptance and embracement of our desires, disgraces, and imperfections.

As the show progresses, the installation gradually transforms, sonically and visually, allowing the audience to shift from stillness to subtle movement. This evolving atmosphere reflects the emotional journey embedded in the work. Through layered soundscapes and responsive visuals, the piece invites a physical and emotional unfolding, creating space for reflection, connection, and transformation. The shared language between sound and image holds the audience in a collective moment, where vulnerability and beauty are not opposites but parts of the same whole.
